12 million South Africans remain unbanked.

As more of us tap to pay and carry no cash, informal and service workers (car guards, petrol attendants, caddies, hotel staff) are losing a vital form of income.

We’re working to change that.

We created a simple, secure digital tipping solution that lets anyone tip using their banking app - no cash or app download required. Each tippee receives a unique QR code and digital wallet, making it possible to receive, spend, or withdraw funds instantly.

We’ve seen tip income rise by up to 40%, car guards save for education, and entrepreneurs grow small businesses. We’re gathering real-time data to support performance insights, improve service delivery, and create long-term economic value.

Thank you to MyBroadband for shining a light on this issue and sharing the story of how tipped is working to solve it.
