Hospitality with Heart: New Partnership Puts Housekeepers First

We're thrilled to announce that tipped has partnered with Hotel Sky Cape town to enroll their dedicated cleaning staff as official tippees on our platform!

This collaboration marks a significant step towards recognising and rewarding the essential work of housekeeping professionals in the hospitality industry.​

In South Africa, hotel housekeepers earn an average monthly salary of approximately R8,852, with those in Cape Town earning around R12,307 monthly, about 39% above the national average.

Despite their crucial role in maintaining guest satisfaction, tipping for housekeeping staff is not as customary as it is for other service roles. While tipping practices vary, a general guideline in South Africa is to tip around 10% for good service

By integrating Hotel Sky Cape Town's cleaning staff into the tipped platform, guests can now easily and securely show their appreciation through digital tips. This initiative acknowledges these employees' hard work and promotes a culture of gratitude and fair compensation.​

Looking ahead, we plan to extend this partnership to include the concierge team, further expanding the reach and impact of our platform within the hotel.​
