A few weeks ago, I had the INCREDIBLE pleasure of being invited to the studio for an interview with Radio 786 on the Tech Net Show.

We had an inspiring conversation about financial inclusion, sustainability, and economic growth in South Africa. It was my first time in a radio studio, and I am feeling so grateful for the opportunity to share our journey and vision at tipped.

We discussed how financial inclusion goes beyond providing access to banking services; it’s about creating opportunities for all South Africans to participate fully in the economy. At tipped, we believe technology can bridge that gap and empower those often overlooked by traditional systems, like petrol attendants and service workers who rely on cash tips.

The sustainability facet includes building economic models that uplift communities in the long term. When people have secure, cashless ways to receive payments, it reduces risks associated with cash economies, improves financial literacy, and provides better access to financial services.

Economic growth thrives when inclusivity is at its core. By focusing on solutions that serve those at the base of the economy, we can create a ripple effect that benefits everyone - from improved productivity to stronger local economies.

A huge thank you to Llewellyn Scholtz and the Radio 786 team for a thoughtful discussion.

Conversations like these are vital, and I’m excited for the journey ahead as we continue working towards meaningful change in South Africa.
